Dan Diker Interviewed on CBS Radio

CBS Radio’s Eye on the World’s John Batchelor interviewed Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs President Dan Diker on November 3, 2023, about the rise of the college campus organization Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).

Diker, who authored Students for Justice in Palestine: Unmasked, explained that SJP is a Palestinian terror organization front. Numbering over 300 branches on North American campuses, SJP was founded by former UC Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian, who also founded the Hamas-affiliated American Muslims for Palestine. Bazian publicly called for the violent subversion of the United States via an “intifada.” SJP has hosted Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives, a veteran of the Marxist-Leninist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and attempted hijacker Leila Khaled, among other terrorists and their supporters.

Diker said that after SJP’s outright support of Hamas’ October 7 massacre of over 1,400 Israelis in western Negev towns, cities and kibbutzim, the group can be rightly charged with the glorification and encouragement of mass murder of Jews, which is not protected under First Amendment rights. SJP should be investigated by campus, local police, state and federal authorities. SJP should also be banned for being in violation of Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act against minority discrimination, for its intimidation and abuse of Jewish and Israeli students on campus.

To ban SJP, Jewish organizations such as the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, the Anti-Defamation League, and others should place SJP under a spotlight  for their malign agendas. In parallel, in the private sector, Jewish and Israel-supporting alumni, trustees, board members and donors should pull donations from universities that harbor SJP chapters, as Ambassador Ronald Lauder recently did at the University of Pennsylvania.

Foreign funding of college departments and terror front-groups such as SJP, whose funds are difficult to trace, should also be investigated, as was done in 2011 to the Holy Land Foundation terror front. Diker and JCPA Fellow Khaled Abu Toameh’s upcoming project is titled, “Ivy League Jihad: The Hamas-Inspired SJP Hijacking of American Campuses.”
